In 1999, Electronic Arts released the first Medal of Honor. Developed by DreamWorks Interactive for the original Playstation, the game is a first-person shooter set during World War II. Steven Spielberg, the legendary directory behind movies such as E.T. and Indiana Jones, wrote the story. While the original Medal of Honor was great for its time, and was loved by both gamers and critics, the series has come a long way. In the span of eight years, EA released a dozen Medal of Honor games for just about every system, from PC and Game Boy Advance to the Xbox 360 and Wii. Nearly every edition of the game was subject to moh cheats as well. In fact, such was the reach of the series that the only major platform not to have a Medal of Honor release was the Nintendo DS. All of the releases following the original were titled Medal of Honor, with a subtitle such as “Allied Assault” or “Vanguard.”
After a three year hiatus beginning in 2007, EA came back with a new installment. Simply called Medal of Honor, this reboot to the series was released in October 2010. Available for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game is a departure as much as it is a reboot. While every previous game has taken place during World War II, this is the first to go in a different direction. It is set in the 21st century and revolves around the war in Afghanistan.
The bulk of the single player mode of Medal of Honor is in its main campaign. It follows a conflict between American forces and the Taliban based on the events after September 11, 2001. There are four different characters that players take control of throughout the story, including an Army Ranger and a Navy Seal. The Navy Seal, called Rabbit, is the primary protagonist and is playable for the majority of the game. After completing the campaign, hardcore gamers have something else to look forward to: the Tier 1 Mode. This is a sort of hardcore mode for the campaign, with new challenges and a goal completion time for each mission. Players can access it after finishing the main story.
Serious gamers also have a multiplayer setting to test their skills. Simply called “Hardcore,” it allows players to partake in usual game modes, but with added challenges. To start, each player’s health has been drastically reduced, making survival much more difficult. It is also more difficult to find enemies in Hardcore, as interface elements such as the map have been removed. Some players are using medal of honor aimbot xbox to take advantage of the mode, re-enabling some features lost in this setting. For example, friendly fire (which is enabled in Hardcore) can be toggled off. There are even some improvements that come with the cheats, including a mini map that can display all enemies.
The rebooted Medal of Honor (2010) brings the classic gameplay of the series into modern times, featuring all new weapons and multiplayer. Hardcore gamers have even more to enjoy, with intense modes in both single player and online. That’s not to leave out casual gamers, however – the regular campaign is suitable for them, and medal of honor catalyst can be used online to help curb any difficulties. There is something for everyone in Medal of Honor, and with a sequel already planned for release, things can only get better.
The first-person shooter is one genre in video games that has created an enormous subculture and a community of hardcore gamers. Since the games Wolfenstein 3D and Doom in the early 90s, the genre has come into its own and attracted millions of players worldwide. Hundreds of titles have been released, but there have been a few standouts. One of these is Medal of Honor. Created by EA in 1999, this WWII shooter brought realistic gameplay to war buffs everywhere. With thirteen different installments, there has been no shortage of options for fans of the series. The 2010 release of Medal of Honor began a new era for the franchise, bringing it into a modern setting for first time. Taking place in the year 2002 in Afghanistan, the game features improved graphics and a strong online multiplayer with available Medal of Honor Hacks.
Medal of Honor brought together a tag-team of developers that balance one another out, for a superior outcome. Danger Close Games, which has gone through several incarnations as a company, developed the original Medal of Honor when they were called DreamWorks Interactive. They went on to produce seven additional titles in the series, so long-time fans of the game were able to rest easy knowing the reboot was in good hands. Danger Close Games specifically developed the single-player part of the game. Working on the multiplayer was a studio that first-person shooter fans know well: Digital Illusions CE (DICE). This is the company behind the entire Battlefield series, a hardcore shooter known for its 4-player squad combat and intense multiplayer. They were the perfect fit for the online aspect of Medal of Honor, and they brought much of their experience in that field into the game, with Medal of honor cheats similar to those in Battlefield.
Visuals in Medal of Honor are at their best. Just as single-player and multiplayer were developed by two different studies, they both take advantage of different engines. Developed by Epic Games, the Unreal Engine 3 is used by Danger Close Games for the single player. This is the powerhouse that made possible the Unreal Tournament series, with the original version being used for the game Unreal. Unreal Engine 3 brings more advanced graphics and improved lighting to the already powerful software.
In the multiplayer modes, DICE used the Frostbite engine, which they created specifically for Battlefield. Versions of the engine have been used mainly for that series, having been included in every title since Battlefield: Bad Company. Medal of Honor was the first non-Battlefield game to incorporate it, followed by Need for Speed: The Run in 2011. The Frostbite engines are known for their destructive capabilities, with realistic effects that improve with each new incarnation. Medal of Honor uses Frostbite 1.5, the second version of Frostbite, allowing for more realistic gameplay in multiplayer. Some players also modify engine features by obtaining Medal of honor cheat, which can improve the framerate or remove in-game obstacles.
Combining the classic Medal of Honor series with elements found in DICE games is a huge change to the franchise. Also, stepping into modern times gives it a completely new direction, similar to what Activision has done with Modern Warfare. With improved graphics, multiplayer, and an all new setting, EA is onto something big with Medal of Honor that gamers everywhere have embraced.
